OUR COMMUNITY WORK
GIRL SCOUTS OF GREATER NEW YORK & TROOP 6000 (2019-2023)
Smashworks Dance has proudly partnered with Girl Scouts of Greater New York to provide dance movement and choreography workshops that focus on building confident leaders. Girl Scouts can earn their Dance Badge by completing our Dance Maker workshop.
Over the last two years, Smashworks Dance has also partnered with Troop 6000, a program specially designed to serve girls in the New York City Shelter System, to teach virtual dance workshops.
DANCE THE VOTE ST. LOUIS (2020)
Smashworks Dance created two original dance films for Dance The Vote, a St. Louis, Missouri based non-partisan project that uses the arts to promote voter registration, providing an opportunity to showcase the skills of St. Louis choreographers and dancers in service of community involvement.
Dance The Vote commissioned choreographers to create pieces tied to the history of voting to remind the community how important it is to exercise this fundamental right.
YAP ABOUT IT (2020)
Smashworks Dance has partnered with Yap About It to teach virtual dance classes as part of their mission to provide free access to mental wellness resources to young people in need. Yap About It is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit organization Established in 2017. Our journey began in 2012 to find a way to destigmatize talk therapy by making it "cool" and more accessible for young lives in need.
Smashworks Dance taught free Ballet & Creative Movement classes via Instagram Live - in an effort to introduce the healing and therapeutic power of dance to their youth.
NEW SANCTUARY COALITION (2018)
Smashworks has volunteered by teaching dance classes to the children of New Sanctuary Coalition, a network of faith organizations that works with immigrants to fight against racism and economic injustice.
